HERO

words & music: JP Den Tex

“Roaming the streets of San Francisco during the final days of his journey, our   romantic traveler learns a quintessential truth about himself: deep down inside there’s always been this fundamental loneliness. But willing to accept it for the 1st time in his life he suddenly feels relieved. And much more in tune with his inner soul…”

I took a stroll to the Wharf today

All by myself

Saw how this junk snatched a bag

The lady shouted for help

I called the cops on my cell

Told them they’d better be fast

I didn’t stay on the scene

I paid my dues in the past

I just continued my walk

Time wouldn’t fool me again

That’s how the hero gets home

Become a different man

As I got close to the Wharf

Here was this pleasant surprise

I ran into Jeanne d’Anvers

The girl with the faraway eyes

She said I knew you’d be here

We share the same cheap hotel

Told me she’d always be true

(She’s quite a story as well…)

That’s how the hero gets home

That’s where this story must end

Once you’re in tune with yourself

You are in tune with the band

Once you’re in tune with yourself

You are in tune with the band
